What IF...

  • We could build more equitable systems?

  • We could create a more respectful society?

  • Facilitators had a framework to support them to manage power imbalances and personal triggers?

Understanding People (UP) project is committed to doing restorative practice differently.

UP project is creating a space for practitioners to explore a radically respectful practice. A practice that has an awareness of systemic power dynamics and imbalances, and is careful not to replicate them in our restorative work. A practice that follows the concept of invested facilitation (IF). Join us for the launch of our What IF network to explore the What IFs with us.

AN INTRODUCTION TO SYSTEMIC RACISM & INVESTED RESTORATIVE FACILITATION

2 hour online session held in November 2022 and May 2023- a recording of this session is available for a small fee

This event aimed to:

  • facilitate a conversation around systemic racism, inspiring participants to take an anti-racist approach in their practice within their organisations, homes and communities.

  • introduce the concept of ‘invested facilitation’ as an important facilitation tool when working with people affected by systemic racism in order to avoid further traumatisation.
